Music at St. Cyprians
Children nowadays, grow up in a multilingual world and music can help them develop confidence and skills in speaking Greek through music!
Music can help children to learn a foreign language faster, easier and in a more engaging way!
Music supports the development of the phonological awareness, which is associated with critical thinking, verbal and written skills.
‘Knowledge musical instrument increases cooperativeness, alertness, the memory, the ability to speech, vision and hearing. To our final conclusion is that musical training develops the skills of the entire brain and neuromuscular our system’. (University of Medicine, San Francisco, Dr Frank.R.Wilson).
Ken Robinson an internationally recognized leader in the development of education, creativity and innovation, argues that arts activities have other beneficial effects. First, they can help to develop qualities and abilities that have very practical applications: grace, poise and balance in gesture and movement; sharpness of vision, hearing and touch; a high degree of co-ordination between hand and eye; an ability to express oneself in precise terms. Second, the visual arts, drama, dance, and music, for example, can have valuable therapeutic functions in the treatment of some physical and/or emotional disorders.
Music also offers knowledge regarding the culture, values and tradition of a country or nation. Music thus, contributes to a holistic education of students getting them ready to cope with the various challenges of the twenty-first century.
Our goal is the pleasure they get from the music the sensitivity that develops them through and discipline gained from their participation in musical activities to help them grow happier, more mature and ready to take their role in society.
On the occasion of teamwork that provides the music, the child will undoubtedly experience the success that will give him confidence. Especially in a child emotionally troubled by the success of clusters in a musical activity can give the necessary confidence to get rid and show his true abilities.
Our school now provides the following lessons:
